Tuition Information

SIE courses are charged at the per credit in-state rate.  Fall 2008 charges are as follows:

Tuition:

Undergraduate students, Maryland residents (Spring rates)  
$273 per credit**
Graduate students, Maryland residents $444 per credit**
** The University reserves the right to change tuition prices
without notice for Fall 2008.


Mandatory Fees:
Undergraduate up to 8 credits   $320.25
Undergraduate over 8 credits   $701.25
Graduate Students   $317.25
SPOC Fees (all students)   $40
Lab Fees (may apply to some courses)   $40

Tuition and fees for the Science in the Evening Program are the same as those established by the university for part-time students and are assessed on a per credit basis even if the student is already paying full-time tuition. Students currently enrolled at the graduate level will be charged at the standard graduate tuition rate. Beginning with the Fall 2004 semester, all post-baccalaureate students registered for Science in the Evening courses will be charged at the in-state tuition rate for SIE courses regardless of individual residency classification. Tuition rates for all non-SIE courses will be assessed regular tuition and fee rates according to student residency classification.

Typically financial aid is not available to non-degree-seeking students. However, alternative or private loans may be an option. Financial penalties for dropping a course

If classes are dropped August 29th or earlier (prior to the first day of classes) there will be no charge. You will receive a 100% refund. Cancellation requests should be received in writing or in person on or before 4:30 p.m. August 29, 2008, through SPOC First Floor Mitchell Building, or via fax at 301-314-7915 to avoid penalties.

*A withdrawal from the University indicates a student will not complete the semester and has terminated enrollment for ALL courses for which they were registered. Please see page 14 of the printed schedule of classes for additional details regarding the University of Maryland withdrawal policy.

 Dropping a SINGLE course
Both graduate students and part-time undergraduate students are charged by the credit hour. A percentage charge and/or complete charge for the course may be imposed if the deadlines indicated below are not followed. Graduate students should review their deadlines on page 10 of the printed schedule of classes.
